About the event
2026 Baltimore Ukrainian Festival
At the 2026 Baltimore Ukrainian Festival, I’m honored to appear with two remarkable Ukrainian dance ensembles, each representing a distinct yet deeply connected expression of Ukrainian choreographic tradition
.
Spirit of the Dance (Дух Танцю) Ukrainian Folk Ballet (Maryland)
As Artistic Director and Choreographer of Spirit of the Dance (Дух Танцю) Ukrainian Folk Ballet, I founded the ensemble as a space to present Ukrainian dance as a living, expressive art form. My work is rooted in the folk-stage tradition and shaped by a choreographic approach that values musicality, character, and narrative clarity.
Spirit of the Dance brings together artists from classical ballet and Ukrainian folk backgrounds to create original choreographic interpretations of Ukraine’s regional dance traditions, alongside short theatrical works and narrative miniatures inspired by cultural themes, poetic imagery, and moments drawn from Ukrainian history and literature. Through this balance of tradition and original creation, I aim to engage audiences with Ukrainian culture not only as heritage, but as an evolving artistic voice.

Kazka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble (Lehighton, PA)
For nearly 40 years, Kazka Ukrainian Folk Ensemble has been a cultural cornerstone of Pennsylvania’s anthracite coal region, preserving and sharing the traditions brought to America by Ukrainian immigrants beginning in the late 19th century.
Kazka’s repertoire is especially rich in Carpathian regional character, featuring Hutsul, Boyko, Lemko, and Transcarpathian dances, while also spanning the full geographic breadth of Ukraine—from powerful Hopaks to lyrical Central Ukrainian works and contemporary commemorative pieces. Their performances reflect both historical continuity and a deep, community-rooted commitment to Ukrainian dance traditions passed down through generations.

Performing with both of these ensembles in one festival is truly special to me—a bridge between a storied legacy and a living, evolving Ukrainian dance tradition.
I hope to see you there as we celebrate Ukrainian culture together!
