Event Summary
At the invitation of the Northeast Philadelphia Development Corporation, I will bring Spirit of the Dance to Philadelphia for our debut at the 2026 Mayfair Moon Festival.
I will join Spirit of the Dance artists Iryna Tkachenko and Sarah McHale in presenting a short program of Ukrainian choreographic art within a festival celebrating Asian culture and the broader diversity of the Northeast Philadelphia community.
The invitation grew directly from our appearance at the Tryzub Ukrainian Festival, where the NPDC organizers first encountered the ensemble. For me, that makes this engagement particularly gratifying: one performance has opened the door to a new audience and a new cultural setting in which our work can be experienced alongside traditions from other communities.
September 27 also marks a distinctive milestone for Spirit of the Dance, with ensemble artists appearing on two stages in two states on the same day.
