My Summer Character Class at Misako Ballet Studio will present its Capstone Program. The Program will include a character barre demonstration, class performances of Ukrainian and Italian dances and professional demonstrations.

About the event
Character Dance is both an art form of its own, as well as a subdivision of classical training. It evolved from various National Folk Dances and was incorporated into 19th century ballets to enhance the charisma and originality of choreography and provide the geographical setting.
Character Dance enhances the development of coordination, musicality and an ever more expressive upper body. It builds strength, stamina, coordination, rhythm and it generally improves ballet technique.
Character Dance training is tremendously beneficial for developing dancers as complete artists with a deep understanding of history, geography, culture, tradition and spirituality, able to effectively convey, with maximum expressiveness, the human experience across cultural boundaries.
This program is designed to develop skills and offer performance opportunities for professional, pre-professional and recreational dancers, providing focus on learning and mastering the national styles, movement vocabulary and techniques of several world cultures including Ukrainian, Hungarian, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Roma, Moldovan, Bashkir and more.
