Event Summary
I am delighted to join Carroll County Dance Center & Ballet Conservatory for its 24th annual production of The Nutcracker at the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, Pennsylvania. The full-length production will be presented in two performances, at 1:00 and 5:00 p.m.
I will perform the role of Drosselmeyer, the mysterious toymaker whose arrival at the Christmas Eve party helps set Clara’s extraordinary journey in motion. It is a role I especially enjoy because it sits at the intersection of character, theatricality, and storytelling — Drosselmeyer is not simply part of the party, but one of the forces that transforms the familiar world around Clara into something magical.
Alongside performing, I am setting the Trepak and contributing staging and choreographic elements to the party scene. I enjoy opportunities that allow me to move between inhabiting a character onstage and shaping the larger theatrical world around that character, using movement, ensemble action, and dramatic detail to help the story unfold clearly for the audience.
The Nutcracker remains one of ballet’s great theatrical traditions, bringing together classical dance, character work, music, spectacle, and storytelling. I am very glad to contribute to Carroll County Dance Center & Ballet Conservatory’s continuing tradition of sharing the production with its dancers, families, and community.
