SUMMARY:
A war-time song from the early 20th Century, reflective of the current situation, this piece portrays the farewell between a mother and son as he departs for war. The mother inspires her son to patriotically defend his homeland, while internally weighing the heavy cost. The son promises to return and take her out into the shining sun and a land of freedom.
