SUMMARY:
This piece is without a doubt Ukraine's most famous Tango and tells the story of a brief romance, colored with vivid imagery of the Carpathian Mountains. It is presented as a Tango infused with elements from the traditional movement vocabulary of Hutsul dances. The song appeared in the 1930s, but its authorship is disputed. It has long been believed that the author of this famous song was the amateur poet and composer, Roman Savitsky. However, it was later popularized that the true author of the song was composer Yaroslav Barnich (Ukrainian People, 2017). Regardless, this song is part of the rich fabric of Ukrainian culture.
