SYNOPSIS:
Bukovynian Spring Duet celebrates the arrival of spring in Ukraine’s Bukovyna region, nestled in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains and shaped by centuries of cultural exchange with neighboring Romania and Moldova. Set to traditional music featuring the distinctive sound of the ocarina, the duet portrays a young couple whose playful games and flirtation unfold through buoyant footwork, syncopated rhythms, and spirited stamping.
As their dance progresses, the pair draw inspiration from the awakening world around them, playfully imitating birds as they build their nests before pausing together to listen to the sounds of the spring landscape. Joyful, lighthearted, and full of regional character, the choreography celebrates both the vitality of Bukovynian folk tradition and the enduring optimism of the season.
