Friends is a choreographic miniature that brings three beloved women of Ukrainian literature together in a playful imagined encounter. Drawing from works by Mykola Hohol and Ivan Kotliarevsky, the piece unites Hohol’s Oksana from Christmas Eve, Hanna from May Night, and Kotliarevsky’s Natalka Poltavka.

When Natalka is distressed by the prospect of an unwanted marriage, her friends gather around her with warmth, humor, and encouragement. Through bright, supportive movement, the trio celebrates camaraderie, loyalty, and the resilience found in female friendship, offering a brief but vivid tribute to the humor and emotional heart of Ukrainian literary heroines.
