SYNOPSIS:

Sailor Dance from The Red Poppy is a choreographic miniature set to Reinhold Glière’s energetic music from the ballet The Red Poppy. Created as a solo for male dancer, the work captures the vigor, rhythm, and theatrical bravura of the famous sailors’ dance.


Originally performed with the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra, the miniature highlights the athleticism and character-driven spirit of the music while presenting a compact concert work suitable for live music and mixed repertory programming.
