SYNOPSIS:
The Nutcracker is an original interpretive staging of Tchaikovsky’s beloved holiday ballet that reimagines the familiar story through newly created choreography and a richly symbolic dramatic framework. While honoring the narrative structure established by Petipa and Ivanov, the production expands the roles of several characters and explores themes of spiritual awakening, courage, transformation, and hope.
Marie’s journey becomes more than a Christmas dream. Guided by Drosselmeyer and the Archangels, she discovers a vision of sacrificial love, redemption, and joyful fulfillment. Conceived for flexible performance, the production may be presented as a complete abridged ballet or through selected scenes for holiday and mixed repertory programs.
HOFFMANN’S FAIRYTALE
Inspired by E. T. A. Hoffmann’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and Alexander Dumas’ later adaptation, this production embraces the Romantic tradition that celebrates imagination, mystery, and the extraordinary hidden within everyday life.
